This Man is Known as the Human Camera

Beautiful Minds: Stephen Wiltshire

"Stephen Wiltshire from London is a star among savants. Stephen is autistic. He did not speak his first words "pencil" and "paper" until he was 5. Yet, when he was 11 he drew a perfect aerial view of London after only one helicopter ride. For this film we're testing the "Living camera" in Rome. "

Perhaps the most unusual bonus of all... employees can bring their dogs to work with them and keep the four-legged canine in their offices.

Image0066

We already know that working for Google has certain advantages, but, believe me, this giant of a search engine takes the welfare of its employees seriously as shown by this decompression (stress) capsule that is impermeable to sound and light....

Hawaiian Waves :o)

These incredible images of waves in the Hawaiian Islands were taken by Clark Little, the number one photographer of surf.

He is dedicated to photographing the waves and has published a selection of his best images.

Sand in surf
Clark Little/SWNS
This shot captures sand from the ocean's floor being swept up by a monstrous wave and resembles a sandstorm.

Little calls it the Sandmonster.

There were clouds of sand ten feet high and I'm standing there.
I'm holding on to my camera and my trigger as long as I can.
Then I have to jump into the cloud of sand to try to get out of danger's way.

His fans pay as much as $4,000 for his gorgeous photos.

This shot is his favorite.

With a high shutter speed he caught the brilliant fanned effect of two waves  intersecting each other and throwing out this beautiful fan of water.

APOD: 2010 January 11 - The Astronaut Who Captured a Satellite

The Astronaut Who Captured a Satellite
Credit: STS-51ANASA

Explanation: In 1984, high above the Earth's surface, an astronaut captured a satellite. It was the second satellite captured that mission. Pictured above, astronaut Dale A. Gardner flies free using the Manned Maneuvering Unit and begins to attach a control device dubbed the Stinger to the rotating Westar 6 satellite. Communications satellite Westar 6 had suffered a rocket malfunction that left it unable to reach its intended high geosynchronous orbit. Both the previously caught Palapa B-2 satellite and the Westar 6 satellite were guided into the cargo bay of the Space Shuttle Discovery and returned to Earth. Westar 6was subsequently refurbished and sold.

A Day at the Dentist

The dentist pulls out a numbing needle to
give the man a shot.

'No way! No needles. I hate needles'
the patient said.

The dentist starts to
hook up the nitrous oxide and the
man objects. "I can't do the gas thing..

The thought of having the gas mask
on is suffocating me!"

The dentist then asks the patient if

he has any objection to taking a pill.

"No objection," the patient
says. "'I'm fine with pills."

The dentist then returns and
says, "Here's a Viagra."

The patient says, "Wow! I didn't know

Viagra worked as a pain killer!"

"It doesn't"
said the dentist, "but it's going to give

you something to hold on to when I
pull your tooth."
